How to save feed in yellow catfish farming? Practical tips shared
Currently, yellow catfish farming is fairly widespread and is a major farmed species for increasing income among fish farmers in many places. However, during the farming process, many farmers, in a one-sided pursuit of output, do not know how to save feed and continuously put too much feed and fertilizer into the aquaculture water, not

Experience in Rearing Yellow Catfish Fingerlings in Ponds
Based on the characteristics at this stage, such as the increased size of yellow catfish fry, feeding habits basically similar to those of adult fish, stronger schooling behavior, increased food intake, and stronger adaptability to the ecological environment, and given that water temperatures are generally high during the rearing process, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of yellow catfish and grasp

Sharing Experience in Micro-Cage Culture of Yellow Catfish
Setting up micro-cages in ponds used for culturing other aquatic products to raise yellow catfish requires little investment, yields quick results, and is easy to operate. Cage setup. The cage is sewn from polyethylene netting, 2 m long, 2 m wide, and 1.2 m high, with a mesh size of 1 cm. The cage uses a closed stretcher floating-fixed type, with a 9-mesh net cloth as a cushion layer at the bottom; the cushion layer edge is 20 cm high to reduce feed loss, and the upper part of the cage rises about 30 cm above the water surface. A square plastic basket made of 18-mesh polyethylene window screen, 10 cm high and 30 cm on each side, is used as a feeding platform and placed in the middle of the cage body, one per cage. The cages are set at the water inlet of the fish pond, and 1-3 cages can be placed per mu of fish pond. The cages can also be set in open waters with fresh water quality, sufficient dissolved oxygen, shelter from wind and sun, and no pollution, arranged in a straight line, with a cage spacing of 4 m and a row spacing of about 10 m. Water hyacinth or alligator weed is transplanted inside the cage to cover about 2/3 of the cage area.

Fingerling stocking. The cages are put into the water 1-2 weeks before fingerling stocking. The fingerlings are required to be disease-free and injury-free, robust, and uniform in size. Stock 100-150 large-size fingerlings weighing about 20 g each per square meter.

Feeding management.

① Feeding: Common feeds include small miscellaneous fish, snail and clam meat, earthworms, silkworm pupae, livestock and poultry viscera, and animal blood, etc. Feed according to the principles of fixed time, fixed location, fixed quality, and fixed quantity to ensure the yellow catfish eat enough and eat well and grow quickly.

② Water management: Keep the water quality fresh and the dissolved oxygen sufficient. Observe the fish activity every day, check whether the cage is damaged, remove sick and dead fish from the cage, and keep the water body inside the cage clean. Clean the cage once a week to ensure normal exchange of water inside and outside the cage, and adjust the height of the cage in time when the water level changes.

Disease prevention and control. Soak the cage in bleaching powder solution for 30 minutes before it enters the water; soak the fish body in salt solution before the fingerlings enter the cage to kill pathogens and parasites on the body surface; splash quicklime water over the whole cage for disinfection once every 10-15 days; regularly hang bags of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate mixture; about every 20 days, make medicated bait with antibiotics and feed continuously for 2-3 days. Through the above measures, fish diseases can be prevented during the culture cycle.

Key Technical Points for Fry Rearing in Yellow Catfish Aquaculture
Rearing yellow catfish fry (commonly known as "water flowers") with a body length of 1.5-1.2 cm to fry of 5-6 cm in size (known as "fire-flake fingerlings") takes about half a month. The rearing methods at this stage include pond rearing, flowing-water tank rearing and net-cage rearing. Compared with fingerling rearing

Practical Experience Sharing on Temporary Rearing of Yellow Catfish Fry
The temporary rearing and cultivation stage of yellow catfish fry refers to the brief process in which newly hatched larvae that cannot swim freely are cultivated with careful nursing methods into individuals that can swim and feed on their own. The temporary rearing and cultivation of fry is also called larval-stage temporary rearing. (1) Facility conditions The fry's

Methods for the Prevention and Control of Glochidiosis in Yellow Catfish Aquaculture
[Cause] The pathogen is the glochidium larva (Glochidium sp.). The fertilized eggs of mussels develop into glochidia in the outer gill cavity of the mother mussel, then leave the parent and float in the water; after contacting the fish body, they parasitize on the fish. The larvae undergo metamorphosis by absorbing nutrients from the fish body and develop into young mussels.

How to prevent and treat trichodiniasis in yellow catfish farming?
[Cause] The pathogens are Trichodina and Trichodinella. They spread through direct contact, or the trichodinids leave the fish and swim freely in the water to move to new hosts. [Symptoms] The pathogens mainly parasitize the gills, body surface skin and fins of yellow catfish. With a small number of parasites,

How to Choose a Site for Yellow Catfish Cage Culture
1) Waters with slight flow and certain wind waves are both suitable for setting up cages. For large and medium-sized reservoirs, lakes, rivers and other water bodies, compared with ponds, their characteristic is that they have certain wind waves and slight flow. The site for cage culture of yellow catfish requires certain wind waves and slight flow.

What are the prevention and control methods for enteritis in yellow catfish?
(1) Pathogen: Aeromonas punctata. (2) Symptoms: The diseased fish has a distended abdomen and red, swollen anus; when the abdomen is gently pressed, yellow mucus flows from the anus, and the diseased fish swims alone away from the group. When the abdomen is cut open, in mildly affected fish the esophagus and anterior intestine are congested and inflamed, while in severe cases the entire intestine is inflamed and pale red

Methods for setting up cages in yellow catfish cage culture
1. Cage frame The cage frame is the bamboo, wood and other materials that support the cage, and consists of the box frame and floats. Most are made from thick moso bamboo, Chinese fir and waste oil drums, and some are made from steel (angle steel) and other materials. The side length of the box frame should generally be 0.5-1 m greater than the side length of the cage, and the spacing between boxes is 2-3 m.
